My journey started in Algeria when I graduated from INESSM in 1988. I pursued an OB/GYN residency and obtained my DMS in 1992/93. I moved to the USA in 1996 and obtained my ECFMG certificate in 1998. I joined the University of Texas in SanAntonio where I pursued and anesthesiology residency and a fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesia. I further my career with a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Virginia where I am a Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. I held several leadership positions at the University of Virginia among them medical director of Obstetric Anesthesia and PostAnesthesia Care Unit. I have published articles in various anesthesia journals and authored book chapters in Obstetric Anesthesia.
