Primarily Anaesthetcs /Pain Management training were in the Northeast UK. I currently work as Consultant Anaesthetist with special interest in Orthopaedics /Spine, General including ENT & Urology Anaesthesia. I have extensive pain management experience with various fluoroscopic interventions and have pioneered use of Ultrasound in Pain Management and have been the first to introduce and use Ultrasound guided pain interventions in the Northeast UK. As course director of NUSGRA, the first center in UK to establish fresh frozen cadaver based Regional Anaesthesia and Pain courses/workshops to promote the delivery of precision- based RA/ Pain therapies by all clinicians involved in patient care. Research STSFT – Pain Research Lead. Principal Investigator for OIC – Opioid Induced Constipation study at STSFT 2018/19. Principal Investigator for POPULAR study, completed with 125 recruits from CHSFT in June 2015. The multi-center study was published in 2018. Green Shoots Awardee: Local CRN and CHSFT research department funded (2015/16) for setting up and initiating pain studies for CHSFT. I was a sub investigator for multi centre double blind research study on “Comparison of Intermittent Boluses to Simple Continuous Infusion on Patient Global Perceived Effect in Intrathecal therapy for Pain”, which is due to complete soon. The interim analysis of the study results were presented as poster presentation at NANS ASM, 2013, USA. Sub Investigator for research project “Assessment of effect of pulsed RF lesioning of DRG on affective & Pain components of pain in Brain by fMRI” for ethics committee approval and recruiting patients @ JCUH. As research associate at The James Cook University Hospital, UK, I was actively involved in this study- “effect of intravenous vasopressor on spread of spinal anaesthesia and fetal acid-base equilibrium – a randomized and double blinded prospective study”. This was presented at the AAGBI annual meeting at Dublin, 2007 and published in British Journal of Anaesthesia, May 2007 as an original article.
